Bistango, NYC restaurant with GF options

Mid-May Keith and I went home to Long Island to celebrate his cousin’s wedding.   While we were home I was able to go with my sister, mom, and granny to my sister’s final wedding dress fitting in NYC.  Her dress was gorgeous and the seamstress fixed the bra cup issue–it’s a light and float dress with no support, so it had to be reworked in the front. Luckily they were great at their job and able to make it work.  It fits her perfectly!  In the time they took to make the final adjustments, we were able to grab lunch.  I ordered us an Uber (it was Lin and Granny’s first time and they were impressed, my mom has used it before with me in DC) and we were off.

I found Bistango by opening my Google Maps app and typing in gluten free near me.  We were already at 53 West 16th Street, NYC.  Several option popped up, but Bistango seemed like the best choice because my sister wanted a nice sit-down place and they offered brunch.  The website also boasted of gluten free stuffed pastas and gluten free bread, so it was basically fate.

I cannot give this place enough praise.  When we informed them that three of us had gluten allergies they offered us a complimentary gluten free bread basket (any additional serving would have been a $5 charge, not bad but we didn’t need seconds the first basket was large) and said anything on the brunch menu could be made gluten free, EVEN THE FRENCH TOAST.

The answer is yes, if you’re asking if this was the best French Toast I’ve had since I left behind gluten, it was!

If you’re in NYC and looking to have a wonderful brunch without settling for eggs (which is usually the only option at many places promising GF brunch options) go to Bistango.  Eat this French Toast stuffed with fruit, then topped with blueberry sauce and mascarpone.

Tell me if you go and if you love it as much as we did!
